Men's Soccer Beats Penn State York to Advance in the PSUAC Tournament

York, Pa. - The fifth-seeded Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team bested fourth-seeded Penn State York, 2-1 in a PSUAC quarterfinal match-up. New Kensington, advancing to its second straight PSUAC semifinal, improves to 7-4-1 on the season, while York ends its season at 5-7-1.

Senior captain Pascal Bikanura (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) put New Kensington on the board 25 minutes into the first half. Sophomore Paul Kozuch (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) served up a corner kick that Bikanura headed past the goalkeeper to put the Lions up 1-0.

New Kensington's other captain, sophomore Ryan Stanga (West Deer, Pa./Deer Lakes), capitalized on a one-on-one match-up with York's goalie to increase the Lion's lead to two with just over 30 minutes left to play. Fabian Vilca scored York's lone goal in the 82nd minute, but the PSNK defense held on to preserve the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) recorded two saves for the Lions.
