Men's Soccer Travels to Penn State York for PSUAC Quarterfinals Wednesday

New Kensington, Pa. – The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team will travel to Penn State York for the quarterfinal round of the Penn State University Athletics Conference playoffs Wednesday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m. The Lions (6-4-1) are the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-3-1 record in league play. York also finished the season with a 5-3-1 record in conference play, but took the advantage in the tiebreaker to claim the No. 4 seed. 

New Kensington faced York during the first game of the season back on Sept. 6., when the teams battled to a 3-3 draw. Senior Pascal Bikanura (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored two goals and added an assist for New Kensington. Freshman Jorge Oliver (Gibsonia, Pa.) scored the Lions' third goal in the 89th minute to force the game into overtime. Sophomore Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa.) recorded nine saves in goal for New Kensington. Casey Tober tallied two of York's goals.

Bikanura tops the PSUAC in goals per game with 1.75 and points per game with 4.00 and is third with 17 total goals. Zakrzewski currently sits at second in the PSUAC in save percentage, tied for third in saves, and fourth in goals against average.

The winner of Wednesday's match-up with advance to face top-seeded Penn State Brandywine in a semifinal on Saturday, Oct. 28. The finals will be held at University Park on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
