Volleyball comes out of a long weekend 3-1 to advance their league record to 6-1.

Brandywine Volleyball hosted three PSUAC schools on September 29 for their second annual Dig Pink with Brandywine Day to raise funds for The Side-Out Foundation. On top of a great day of donations and support the Lady Lions came out on top after playing matches against Penn State Beaver and Penn State Greater Allegheny beating both teams 3-0.

Out to a great start Brandywine defeated Beaver 25-13, 25-19, 25-7 in the first match of the day. Team leaders include sophomore Brandy Flowers with eight kills and two digs, freshman Kim Russo with 24 digs and five aces as well as freshman Miranda Biondi with six kills and 21 assists. Against Penn State Greater Allegheny Brandywine took the three sets 25-10, 25-18, 25-10. Nicole Costa and Emily Battista led the team in kills with eight and nine respectively. Kirsten Jerla added seven kills to the match.

Sunday began with a challenge against Penn State Fayette. After losing a close first set 22-25 Brandywine was unable to regain momentum and lost their first conference game in three sets. 22-25, 18-25, 16-25. Although that match was lost Brandywine was able to come out in the second match of the day and beat Penn State New Kensington 3-0 with set scores 25-8, 25-13, 25-16. Alex Vitale had 15 digs against New Kensington while Kelsi Wiest added four kills, five aces and ten digs to get the win for Brandywine.
