Lady Lions Fall Behind Early, Lose 6th Straight

New Kensington, PA- The Lady Lions played host to Penn State Hazleton Friday night at the athletic center in another PSUAC matchup. New Kensington entered the game looking for their first victory of the season.

PSU Hazleton had different plans, as the Lady Lions found themselves down 22-11 at the end of the first quarter. New Kensington played a much tighter second quarter, but could not chip away at the lead, falling behind 39-27 at halftime.

Hazleton used a stellar third quarter, outscoring the Lady Lions 25-15, to pull away on their way to a 78-52 victory. The loss drops New Kensington to 0-6 on the season.

The Lady Lions had solid contributions offensively, but just could not get the necessary stops to battle back. Senior Shaylynne Boitnott (Meadville, PA) led all scorers with 19 points, freshmen Najah Perryman (Woodbrige, VA) added 17, and freshmen Esther Cole (Brooklyn, NY) had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

New Kensington will look to get in the win column this Saturday, December 3rd as they welcome Penn State Schuykill to the athletic center for a conference showdown.
