Lady Lions Run out of Gas in OT Defeat

New Kensington, PA- The Lady Lions welcomed Penn State Dubois to the athletic center last night for their first game back from Thanksgiving break. Both teams entered the game looking for their first victory of the young season.

New Kensington used a strong first quarter to jump out to a 17-8 lead, but Dubois responded with a strong effort in the second to make it 25-24 at the half. The teams traded leads in the second half, with Dubois looking to pull away with a 55-48 lead with 1:50 remaining. The Lady Lions were able to fight back, finishing the game on a 7-0 run to force overtime.

Unfortunately, The Lady Lions were forced to start overtime with only four players due to foul trouble. New Kensington continued to fight but could not overcome playing shorthanded on their way to a 67-56 defeat.

New Kensington had four starters score in double figures, with two having double-doubles. Freshmen guard Najah Perryman (Woodbridge, PA) led the way with 16 points, freshmen forward Esther Cole (Brooklyn, NY) added 14 points and 13 rebounds, senior forward Shaylynne Boitnott (Meadville, PA) finished with 13 points, and sophomore guard Destiny Batiste (Thibodaux, LA) chipped in 11 points and 12 boards.
