Lady Lions fight back, fall short in nail biter.  

Mont Alto, PA – The Lady lions traveled to Penn State Mont Alto yesterday afternoon for a PSUAC showdown. New Kensington fell behind early, trailing 15-6 after the first quarter of play. Both teams traded blows throughout the second quarter with Mont Alto taking a 32-22 lead into the break.

Both teams continued to trade blows through the beginning of the second half, with the Lady Lions slowly chipping away at the lead. New Kensington cut the lead to two as freshmen guard Najah Perryman's (Woodbridge, VA) jump shot made it 54-52 with 1:28 left to play. Mont Alto had two huge offensive rebounds down the stretch on their way to a 61-52 victory.

The Lady Lions had three players score in double digits on the day. Perryman led all scorers with 21 points, adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Sophomore guard Destiny Bastiste (Thibodaux, LA) and senior forward Shaylynne Boitnott (Meadville, PA) both chipped in 14 points apiece, while Batiste added 7 rebounds 6 steals to the stat sheet.

New Kensington will look to notch their first win of the season when they return from Thanksgiving break to host Penn State Du Bois November 29th at the athletic center in a PSUAC match up.
