The Lady Lions Drop Season Opener to BC3

The Lady Lions Drop Season Opener to BC3

New Kensington, PA- The Lady Lions opened their season Wednesday night at the athletic center as they welcomed Butler County Community College (BC3).

New Kensington fell behind early, trailing 20-10 at the end of the first quarter, but had a strong second to make it 28-26 going into the half. Both teams traded baskets throughout the second half, but BC3 was able to pull away late on their way to a 69-60 win over our Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions were paced by sophomore guard Destiny Batiste's game high 23 points, on 10-14 from the field. Senior forward Shaylynne Boitnott chipped in 10, freshmen forward Esther Cole added 9 off the bench, and freshmen guard Najah Perryman had 8 points to go along with her team leading 7 rebounds.

New Kensington outshout BC3, 51% to 38% for the night, but BC3 was able to convert 19 New Kensington turnovers into 24 points. The Lady Lions will look to clean that up moving forward, as that was the difference in the game.

The Lady Lions will look to notch their first win as they travel to Penn State Fayette this Tuesday, November 15th for their PSUAC opener.
