Early Lead For Brandywine Seals Fate For New Kensington

Dubois, PA - New Kensington watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-2 loss to Brandywine on Tuesday.  Brandywine scored on an error and a triple by Meghan Ferry in the first inning.

New Ken struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brandywine, giving up 11 runs.

Brandywine scored five runs in the fourth inning.  Brandywine's big inning was driven by a single by Jess James, a home run by Ferry, and an error on a ball put in play by Lianna DeDios.

April Lewandowski led things off on the rubber for Brandywine. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three and walking zero.

Freshman Madison Hoyt was in the pitcher's circle for New Ken. The hurler surrendered six runs on three hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two.  Freshman Addyson Gregg threw two and a third innings in relief.

Freshman Kali Barnett led New Ken with two hits in two at bats.

Brandywine totaled six hits in the game.  Ferry and James all collected multiple hits for Brandywine.
