The Lions Tame The Mustangs 15-1

Dubois, PA - New Kensington stole the lead late and defeated Central Maine Community College 15-1 on Monday.  The game was tied at one with New Kensington batting in the top of the fourth when Freshman Madison Hoyt singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

The Lions secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the sixth inning.  The New Kensington offense in the inning was led by Freshmen Kali Barnett, Kiera Mack, Delaney Sierka, Hoyt, Addyson Gregg and Junior Molly Collins, all driving in runs in the inning.

New Ken got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run for the Lions.

In the bottom of the first inning, Central Maine CC tied things up at one when Emily Wormwood singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

New Ken pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning.

New Ken put up 11 runs in the sixth inning.  The Lions' big bats were led by Barnett, Mack, Collins, Sierka, Hoyt, and  Gregg, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Gregg led things off in the pitcher's circle for New Ken. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over six innings, striking out six.

Olivia Scott toed the rubber for Central Maine CC. The pitcher surrendered 12 runs on 12 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.  Riley McNamara threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.

New Kensington tallied 14 hits on the day.  Hoyt, Barnett, Mack, and Sierka all managed multiple hits for the Lions.  Barnett and Hoyt each managed three hits to lead New Ken.  Hoyt led New Ken with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
