New Kensington Falls to Brandywine in PSUAC Championship

State College, PA - New Kensington watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-0 loss to Brandywine on Monday.  Brandywine took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brandywine, giving up eight runs.

Brandywine opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kaylee Mushinski singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for New Ken was a single by Freshman Kali Barnett in the second inning.

Crystal Cassario was in the circle for Brandywine. Cassario allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out two.

Freshman Addyson Gregg started the game for New Ken. The bulldog went four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out four.

Freshmen Delaney Sierka, Barnett, Madison Hoyt, and Zoe King each collected one hit to lead New Kensington.

Brandywine collected eight hits. Jesse James, Cassario, and Karly Rees all collected multiple hits for Brandywine.  Brandywine was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Emily Reagan made the most plays with five.

 

The Lions also received a bid to the USCAA Small College World Series as the 6th seed in the Tournament.
