New Kensington Splits With Schuylkill

New Kensington wins contest against Schuylkill on Friday, 9-4

Schuylkill got things started in the first inning. Kaely Walshaw doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

New Kensington pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Olivia Waldrop singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

New Ken tallied three runs in the seventh inning. New Ken's big bats in the inning were led by walks by Delaney Sierka and Ashley Encarnacion and a single by Antonia Velasquez.

Waldrop got the start for New Kensington. Waldrop allowed six hits and three runs over five and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Melanie Torrales led things off in the pitcher's circle for Schuylkill. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while walking one. Alyssa Youst, Walshaw, and Miranda Hess each contributed in relief for Schuylkill.

New Ken tallied 12 hits. Molly Collins, Encarnacion, Velasquez, Waldrop, and Sierka all had multiple hits for New Kensington. Collins went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead New Ken in hits.

Schuylkill racked up eight hits on the day. Meghan Stokes and Walshaw all managed multiple hits for Schuylkill.
