New Kensington Sweeps Scranton 16-0

New Kensington, PA - New Kensington defeated Scranton 16-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. 

New Kensington secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the second inning. The rally was led by singles by Molly Collins and Kiera Mack, doubles by Madison Hoyt and Addyson Gregg, a walk by Ashley Encarnacion, a triple by Zoe King, and by Keeghan Cook.

New Kensington got on the board in the first inning. Collins hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

New Kensington notched 11 runs in the second inning. King, Collins, Encarnacion, Cook, Hoyt, and Gregg each drove in runs during the inning.

Hoyt got the start for New Kensington. The hurler lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four and walking one.

New Ken racked up ten hits on the day. Hoyt and Kali Barnett each racked up multiple hits for New Kensington. Barnett and Hoyt all had two hits to lead New Kensington.
