Lions Rally Through Franciscan

Lions Rally Through Franciscan

New Kensington defeated Franciscan 11-2 on Thursday thanks in part to freshmen Kiera Mack (Penn Hills, PA), who drove in five runners. Mack drove in runs on a groundout in the first, a single in the third, and a double in the fifth.

In the first inning, the Lions got their offense started when Mack grounded out, scoring one run.

New Kensington pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Mack singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and freshman Delaney Sierka (Bethel Park, PA) grounded out, scoring two runs.

The Lions scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Mack and a double by Sierka.

Freshman Madison Hoyt (Dubois, PA) led things off in the circle for the Lions. The fireballer allowed three hits and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

New Kensington totaled six hits in the game. Mack and Sierka all managed multiple hits for the Lions.
