New Ken Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Carlow

Clermont, FL – Penn State New Kensington stole the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory over Carlow on Tuesday. 

 

The Lions were down 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Freshman Madison Hoyt (Dubois, PA) singled, scoring two runs.

 

New Kensington collected 14 hits and Carlow had 13 in the high-scoring affair. Carlow fired up the offense in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Carlow.

 

Addyson Gregg (Carlisle, Pa.) led things off in the pitcher's circle for the Lions. The fireballer allowed 13 hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out three.

 

Freshman Olivia Waldrop  (Valencia, Pa.) hit her first Home Run of her college career, and the first Home Run of the season for the Lions.

New Kensington totaled 14 hits. Kiera MackElliott Ferrent, and Delaney Sierka each managed multiple hits for the Lions. Kiera Mack led New Kensington with four hits in four at bats.

 

Carlow tallied 13 hits. Gallagher, Alayna Mintz, Amelia Herzer, and Paige Ziggas all had multiple hits for Carlow. Gallagher went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Carlow in hits.
