New Kensington seniors Brady Braun, Ben Edwards, and Nolan Johngarlo.

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa – the Penn State New Kensington Lions eight-win streak comes to an end following a 11-0 loss against conference rival, Penn State Brandywine.

The Lions (11-5, 8-3) could not find their footing in this matchup. To start the game, the Lions went down 1-0 in the seventh minute of the match. Up until that goal, the Lions held most of the time of possession. After that goal however, New Ken slowed down and let up ten more unanswered goals.

At half, the Lions were only down 3-0. To start the second half, the Lions looked to start the half with a lot of energy but another goal from Brandywine in the first minute of the second half took some of that energy away. The Lions only accounted for two shots and one shot on goal. Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa. / Penn Trafford) had one shot and the teams only shot on goal. Jacob Guerrini (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) tallied the other shot.

Pablo Rea (Tustin, Calif. / Santa Ana) and AJ Collins played goalkeeper for the Lions. Rea played for 55 minutes and allowed six goals allowed. Collins played the rest of the match and allowed the other five goals.

Penn State New Kensington Lions look to bounce back when they start the playoffs with a home matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 27th.
