Lions Soccer Upends Lehigh Valley

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington Lions won their sixth straight match with a 3-1 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley.

The Lions (9-3, 6-1) got on the board in the 14th minute with a goal from freshman Jordan Cooper (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson). Cooper finished a ball played into the box by sophomore Sebastian Borrero (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy).

The score remained 1-0 for the next 61 minutes when a pass from freshman Austin Arnold (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) set up another goal from Cooper, his 13th of the season.

Penn State Lehigh Valley scored in the 83rd minute and tried to mount a comeback, but in the in the 87th minute, William Root (Columbus, Ohio / Canal Winchester) put in a penalty kick to solidify the Lions 3-1 victory.

Pablo Rea (Tustin, Calif. / Santa Ana) received his 5th win of the year after an outstanding performance in net. Rea faced ten shots on goal, only allowing one goal and tallying nine saves.

New Kensington looks to continue their win streak when they face Penn State York on the road on Saturday, Oct. 16th, at 12:00p.m.
