Men's Soccer Takes Tough Loss to Greater Allegheny

Guerrini dribbles down field.

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. –  The Penn State New Kensington Lions three-win streak comes to an end following a 6-2 loss against another conference rival, Penn State Greater Allegheny.

The Lions (3-3) started off this matchup strong and with momentum with an early goal from Jacob Guerrini (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell) off a pass from Jordan Cooper (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) in the fourth minute of the game. From there, New Ken slowed down a bit and let up five goals unanswered.

The second goal from the Lions also came from Guerrini in the 78th minute. The goal marked the freshman's twelfth goal of the season. Throughout the game, Greater Allegheny held most of the time of possession but New Kensington never gave up.

Pablo Rea (Tustin, Calif. / Santa Ana) played goalkeeper for the majority of the game, up until AJ Collins (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) came into the game for the last 20 minutes. Rea faced seven shots, allowing five goals with two saves.

New Kensington looks to bounce back from this loss when they travel to Penn State Hazleton on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 1:00 p.m.
