Men’s Soccer Win Conference Matchup Against Scranton

New Kensington, Pa. –  After a slow start to the season, the Penn State New Kensington Lions win their third game in a row against conference opponent, Penn State Scranton, with the score of 7-1.

The Lions (3-2) maintained most of the time of possession in the first half. The Lions started off the scoring with two goals in one minute and eleven seconds of each other, one by Vincent Gigliotti (Punxsutawney, Pa. / Punxsutawney) and one by Jacob Guerrini (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell). Guerrini, who has been the top goal scorer for the Lions, added another goal towards the end of the first half.

The Lions kept their momentum into the second half with a goal in the first minute by Jordan Cooper (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson). Cooper ended the game with three goals himself, with William Root (Columbus, Ohio / Canal Winchester) scoring the seventh goal. Senior Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) contributed three assists on the day. 

Pablo Rea (Tustin, Calif. / Santa Ana) played goalkeeper the entire game and only faced two shots on goal. He accounted for one save and one goal allowed.

New Kensington looks to stretch its win streak to four when they host another conference opponent in Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, Sept. 21st, at 4:00 p.m.
