Men's Soccer Takes Conference Opener from Fayette

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team opened up conference play against Penn State Fayette Thursday. The Lions, now 2-2 overall, sailed to victory with twelve unanswered goals. 

Senior Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) started things off for New Kensington as he converted a pass from sophomore Vincent Gigliotti (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney). Freshman Jacob Guerrini (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) then found back of the net three times in a row, completing his second hat trick in as many games. Gigliotti assisted on two of those goals. AJ Collins (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) was next to score for New Ken, finishing the helper from Ryan Wurzer (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell). Entering halftime, the Lions were up 5-0. 

Sebastian Borrero (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) opened up the scoring in the second half with two back-to-back goals. Guerrini assisted on the second goal. Freshman Austin Arnold (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) followed up with two back-to-back goals of his own, getting assists from William Root (Columbus, Ohio/Canal Winchester) and Sam Barca (New Kensington, Pa./Valley). The scoring was rounded out by Gigliotti, Borrero, and Root, each scoring unassisted goals.

Pablo Rea (Tustin, Calif./Santa Ana) made four saves in net for the Lions.

New Kensington will be back at home Saturday, Sept. 18., when they face Penn State Scranton at 1:00 p.m.
