New Kensington, PA- The Lions played host to first place Penn State Mont Alto yesterday afternoon at the athletic center in a huge PSUAC West matchup.

New Kensington started slow, shooting just 27% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc in the first half. The Lions were able to keep things within reach, forcing nine turnovers and holding their own on the boards on their way to a 27-20 halftime deficit.

Mont Alto started the second half on a 13-9 run, taking their biggest lead of the game at 40-29 with just over nine minutes to play. The Lions responded, going on an 13-2 run of their own over the next seven minutes, tying things up at 42 all on a free throw by sophomore guard Shyheim Flanagan (Breaux Bridge, La) with 2:17 to go. Unfortunately, New Kensington couldn't get the go ahead bucket on their way to a heartbreaking 48-45 defeat.

Three Lions finished in double digits on the day, with sophomore guard Aubrey Feaster (Buffalo, NY) leading the way with 13 points and 6 rebounds. freshman guard Ta'Rasi Means (Plum, Pa) chipped in 11 points and 4 boards, while sophomore forward Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia) added 10 and 4 of his own. Flanagan led the Lions bench with seven points in just over 18 minutes of action.
