Lions Have Huge Offensive Night, Outshoot PSU Shenango

Sharon, PA- New Kensington hit the road yesterday for a PSUAC West showdown with Penn State Shenango.

Both teams had solid nights offensively, trading leads back and forth all afternoon. The Lions looked like they were about to run away with things about halfway through the first, using an 18-5 run to take a 33-21 lead with just over 6 minutes to play. Shenango responded effectively, using a 23-10 run of the their own to take a 44-43 lead at the break.

New Kensington trailed early in the second, until retaking the lead at 65-64 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. The Lions would not look back from that point, shooting 57% throughout the second on their way to a convincing 95-82 victory.

The Lions sported a balanced attack all night, led by guard Ta'Rasi Means's (Plum, PA) 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. New Kensington's bench had another strong performance, scoring 46 points as a unit, led by a double-double performance by big man Senique Jenkins (Columbus, OH) with 15 points and 13 boards. Reserve guard Donaven Johnson (Houston, TX) added 13 points and 4 rebounds of his own. Starting center Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia) had an efficient night, scoring 12 points on only 6 field goal attempts.

New Kensington will look to stay hot as they travel south this Tuesday, January 31st to take on Westmoreland County Community College in a nonconference showdown.
