Lions Bounce Back, Pull Away Late in Win Over PSU Du Bois

Du Bois, PA- The Lions traveled to Penn State Du Bois yesterday afternoon for a conference matchup, looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat in their last outing.

New Kensington took the lead on their first attempt of the game on a lay up by sophomore guard Aubrey Feaster (Buffalo, NY) and never looked back, taking control via an 18-6 run in the first five minutes of play. Du Bois fought back, but the Lions maintained the lead, shooting 47% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc on their way to a 38-32 score at the half.

The Lions offensive success continued after the break, as they shot over 50% from the field and 62% from three point range during the second half en route to a 79-64 victory.

New Kensington was led offensively by senior forward Joseph Dusabe (Toronto, ON), who scored 24 points, knocking down 5 of his 8 three point attempts. Sophomore guard Shyheim Flanagan (Breaux Bridge, LA) chipped in 9 points of his own, while dropping 5 dimes. Center Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia) filled the stat sheet, grabbing 8 boards, tallying 6 assists, and blocking 5 shots on the day.

New Kensington saw great contributions off of their bench, with 8 different Lions combining for 33 points. Sophomore guard Ta'Rasi Means (Plum, PA) led the way with 8 points and 4 rebounds in his return from injury.

The Lions will look to continue their success offensively as they welcome Penn State Fayette to the athletic center this Tuesday, January 24th for another PSUAC showdown.
