Lions Never Recovered After a Slow Start Against Kent St. Tuscarawas

New Kensington, PA- The Lions returned home from the holiday break to play host to Kent State Tuscarawas Friday night at the athletic center.

New Kensington started slow, falling behind 11-0 in the first few minutes of the game. The Lions got it together, using a 12-1 to cut it to a one possession game at 22-19 with just over five minutes remaining in the half. Kent State Tuscarawas finished on a 6-0 run to take a 28-19 lead at the break.

The Lions were able to cut the lead to 6 early in the second half, but Kent St. Tuscarawas started to pull away from there on their way to an 80-55 win.

Sophomore center Manny Dotson (Pittsburgh, PA) led all scorers for New Kensington, with 15 points and 8 rebounds in only 15 minutes off the bench. Sophomore forward Benjamin Cunningham (Woodbridge, VA) added 8 points and 5 rebounds, while fellow forward Jaden Stonework (Clinton, MD) chipped in 8 as well.

The loss drops New Kensington to 6-8 overall and 5-3 in the PSUAC on the season. The Lions will look to get back in the win column this Monday, January 9th as they travel to downtown Pittsburgh to take on Point Park University in a nonconference showdown.
