Men's Basketball to Face Mont Alto in PSUAC Quarterfinal

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team will travel to Penn State Mont Alto for a quarterfinal matchup in the PSUAC playoffs on Monday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. New Kensington currently holds an overall record 14-13 and captured the West Division 4th seed after finishing 9-10 in the conference. Mont Alto is the West Division 1st seed with a 18-1 conference record and is 23-3 overall.  

New Kensington advanced to the quarterfinals after a decisive 95-69 victory over Penn State Fayette in the PSUAC First Round on Saturday. Aubrey Feaster II (Buffalo, N.Y./William B. Travis) led the Lions with 32 points and five steals.

For the season, Feaster leads the team with 16.7 points per game followed by Shyheim Flanagan (St. Martinsville, La./Westside) with 13.7 and Evan Clarke (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) with 12.8. Flanagan also leads the team with 3.6 assists per game while Clarke is first on the team in rebounds per game with 6.9 and steals per game with 1.6.

Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia/Canterbury) has made a splash since transferring to New Kensington for the spring semester. He has accumulated an astounding 1.9 blocks per game and sits fourth on the team in points per game with 10.8.

New Kensington faced Mont Alto twice during the regular season with Mont Alto earning the win both times. In an 88-65 loss at home, New Kensington was led by Clarke with 13 points. Clarke led again on the road with 12 points in the 68-55 defeat. Benjamin Cunningham (Woodbridge, Va./Christ Chapel Academy recorded a game-high ten rebounds.  

The winner of tonight's game will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 23 where the bracket will cross divisions for the first time. The semifinal winners will meet at the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park on Saturday, Feb. 26.
