New Kensington men score lopsided win

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men turned in a complete performance on Tuesday, as they rolled to a convincing 85-50 victory at home against Penn State DuBois. In the triumph, New Kensington shot nearly 48 percent from the field, and dominated on the glass, outrebounding DuBois 48-30.

As a result of the victory, New Kensington moves above .500 at 4-3 overall, including 2-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. DuBois remains winless, at 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the PSUAC.

Four players scored in double figures for New Ken, with Shyheim Flanagan (St. Martinville, La/Westside) leading the way with 17 points, along with a game-best three assists. Aubrey Feaster II (Buffalo, NY/William B Travis) and Jiaan Sehhat (Great Falls, Va/Langley) each scored 11 points, while Jared Sidwell (Apollo, Pa/Harvest Baptist Academy) scored 10. Manny Dotson (Pittsburgh, Pa/Nazareth Prep) paced New Kensington with six rebounds, while Ta'Rasi Means (Plum, Pa/Plum) and Benjamin Cunningham (Woodbridge, Va/Christ Chapel Academy) each notched three steals.

For DuBois, Jaiquil Johnson netted a game-best 21 points, while Drezyre Toney contributed 13 points. Logan Wright led the team with six rebounds, while Dylan Craft added three steals.

With Flanagan leading the way, New Ken outscored DuBois 32-17 in the opening half. The freshman guard knocked down a pair of trifectas and scored 11 points in the half. Johnson was a one-man show on the other side, as he scored 10 of his team's 17 points. DuBois committed 12 turnovers through the first 20 minutes.

After halftime, New Kensington shot a scorching 55 percent from the floor, including 5-of-12 from behind the arc. Sehhat did all of his scoring in the second half, highlighted by an acrobatic and-one layup.

Penn State New Kensington returns to action on Friday, Dec. 3, welcoming Penn State York. DuBois travels to play Penn State Schuylkill on Thursday, Dec. 2.
