New Kensington, Pa. – After eight seasons at the helm of the Penn State New Kensington men's basketball program, Art McCray Jr. has resigned as head coach to take on a new role within the University as an Enrollment Specialist for the campus. McCray is also a former a student-athlete for New Kensington, helping lead the Lions to conference championships in 1996 and 1997.

McCray's vast knowledge of Penn State New Kensington and his experience as a student-athlete will now have a greater impact on the whole campus as he is involved in the recruitment of all students.

"I've never taken the responsibility of recruiting quality student-athletes to our campus lightly and I'm honored to take on this responsibility on a campus-wide and university basis," McCray said of the opportunity.

"It has been my pleasure to work with Art over the last few years," said New Kensington athletic director Megan Bratkovich. "Art was the first athletics staff member that I spoke with after accepting this position, and it was apparent to me from the get-go that he cared deeply for Penn State New Kensington and his student-athletes. I'm excited to see what he will do for the campus through his new role in admissions."

During his tenure, McCray trained USCAA All-American, Dorian Broadwater, as well as five PSUAC all-Conference award winners. McCray's teams also produced several PSUAC and USCAA academic award winners. In addition, some of his former student-athletes have gone on to the next level by making semi-pro teams.

"It's been an honor to hold the reigns as Head Men's Basketball Coach," said McCray. "I coach because I enjoy pushing people to become the best version of themselves. It's always been more than just the wins and losses. It's been about building relationships, the guys obtaining their degrees, and keeping in touch when they graduate."

"This isn't goodbye. It's see you later."
