New Kensington Stuns Fayette in Game One 9-2

New Kensington, PA - Senior Reise Matson gets things going for Penn State New Kensington with an RBI single in the first and a 2 RBI double in the 3rd, as New Kensington takes an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore Eric Sonntag knocked in two more runs on an RBI single to make the lead 5-0. Fayette would make some noise in the fourth inning, tallying two runs after a single by Sawyer D'Andrea, an error, and a run scoring off of a double play. New Kensington answered right back, with a 2 run homerun by Junior Max Oliveri, to put the Lions up 7-2. New Kensington would continue to add onto their lead, Sophomore Zack Woolheater hit an RBI double, and Junior Braden Tristani hit a sacrifice fly. The Lions offense proved to be too much for Fayette, winning by a commanding score of 9-2.

Sophomore Lucas Springer was once again the winning pitcher for New Kensington. Springer allowed just 2 runs on 6 hits and 4 strikeouts in his complete game performance. 

Noah Matthews was the losing pitcher for Fayette. Matthews allowed 8 earned runs on 12 hits and 3 walks.

Lucas Springer continues his dominance, wins his second consecutive start. Max Oliveri and Reise Matson led the offense with a combined 5 RBIs.
