New Kensington Completes the Double Header Sweep Winning 13-3

New Kensington, PA - Just like in game one, Penn State Beaver produced 2 runs in the first inning off of a triple by Matthew Cater and an RBI groundout from Aaron Stribling. New Kensington fought back, scoring 6 runs in the first two innings with senior Reise Matson (Kittanning, PA) and junior Tim Morris (Plum,PA) leading the way with 3 RBIs combined. Beavers offense would be shut down for the remainder of the game by starting pitcher sophomore Eric Sonntag (Philadelphia, PA). New Kensington would add some insurance runs later on thanks to a big 3 RBI double from freshman Karter Weitzel (Butler, PA). New Kensington stays hot, winning by mercy rule 13-3 through six innings.

Eric Sonntag was the winning pitcher for the Lions, pitching six innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 6 strikeouts. Sonntag recorded his first win of the 2023 season.

Christopher Cann was the losing pitcher for Beaver, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. Jordan Streamo came in relief of Cann in the fifth inning, allowing 5 earned runs on 6 hits and 4 strikeouts.

Karter Weitzel, Braden Tristani, Max Oliveri, Reise Matson, Zack Woolheater, Tim Morris, and Tallon Auth all recorded RBIs in the win.
