Early Lead for Lancers Seals Fate For Lions.

Vero Beach, FL - The New Kensington Lions watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 13-3 loss to College of Lake County Lancers Varsity on Monday. The Lancers took the lead on a double in the first inning.

The Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Lancers, giving up 13 runs.

College of Lake County opened up scoring in the first inning. Valentin Cerna Jr. drove in two when Cerna Jr. doubled.

The Lions put three runs in the seventh inning. New Kensington's big bats were led by sophomores Eric Sonntag (Philadelphia, PA) and Dylan Fowler (McConnellsburg, PA), who all drove in runs.

Sophomore pitcher, Lucas Springer (Stow, OH) started the game for New Kensington. Springer surrendered seven runs on four hits over three and a thrid innings, striking out four and walking one. Junior Tim Morris (Plum, PA) and sophomore Dominic Fellowes (New Kensington, PA) entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

Junior outfielder Jared Busche (Pittsburgh, PA), junior short stop Max Oliveri (Pittsburgh, PA), freshmen outfielder Karter Weitzel (Butler, PA), sophomore pitcher Nick Osborne (Hermitage, PA) and Fowler all had one hit to lead the Lions.
