New Kensington Falls To WCCC

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - New Kensington baseball fell to Westmoreland County Community College Monday afternoon in their final game of the season. 

WCCC managed a large lead through the first, running across five times. They followed up with two runs in the third and seven in the fourth. 

WCCC earned their final two runs in the sixth and seventh to take the 16-0 lead. Penn State New Kensington contributed two hits on the game but was unable to score any runs through the first six innings. New Kensington brought in two runs in the seventh for Westmoreland County Community College to finish with the 16-2 win. 

James Auberzinsky (Munhall, Pa. / Steel Valley) started on the mound for New Kensington. He let up three runs, walking three. He was replaced by Ethan Brunson (Webberville, Mich. / Webberville) who threw three innings allowing eight runs on six hits. The freshman walked four batters, striking out three. 

Alex VanMeter (Fort Myers, Fla. / Dunbar) entered the game to throw two innings, giving up four runs on four hits, including one home run. VanMeter walked one batter. Remy Monteleone (Mars, Pa. / Mars) finished the game for New Kensington throwing, one inning and allowing one run on one hit. 

WCCC established and held a large lead through six innings. Sophomore AJ Collins (Penn Hills, Pa. / Penn Hills) contributed a 2 RBI to drive in Jared Busche (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Gateway) and Tim Morris (Plum, Pa. / Plum) for New Kensington's two runs of the contest. 

At the season's end, Senior Reise Matson (Kittanning, Pa. / Armstrong) led the team in hits with 33. Max Oliveri (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Penn Hills) led the team in runs, totaling 17. Junior Tallon Auth (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Plum) was the club's home run leader, producing four on the year. 

The men finish their season with 213 hits, 127 RBIs,141 runs, 53 stolen bases, and eight home runs. They earned three conference wins, totaling seven for the season.
