Baseball Drops 4-1 Decision to Henry Ford College

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - New Kensington baseball dropped a 4-1 decision to Henry Ford College in their final game of spring training to land at 2-4 going into the regular season.

New Kensington earned a run across in the top of the fourth to tie the game at one before Henry Ford College would extend their lead in the bottom of the fifth with a ground out to second. The Hawks went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Nick Osborne (Hermitage, Pa. / Hickory) made the start for New Kensington. The freshman threw three innings giving up one run on three hits. Osborne struck out one batter and walked one batter. Sophomore Eric Sonntag (Philadelphia, Pa. / Hatboro-Horsham) entered the game in the fourth throwing one scoreless inning, walking one batter.  James Auberzinsky (Munhall, Pa. / Steel Valley) took over also throwing one inning. He gave up one run on one hit and walked one batter. Lucas Springer (Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) closed for New Kensington, throwing the final inning and allowing two runs on one hit.

Henry Ford College put up the first points of the game in the bottom of the third on a line drive to center field. New Kensington answered when Tallon Auth (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Plum) scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. The Hawks ran across three more times in the next two innings to finish with a 4-1 win.  

"Just a get full season, getting back to normal," said Braden Tristani (Sarver, Pa. / Knoch). "It's still a little weird to get out of the situation we were in. Just have fun and compete as hard as we can."

New Kensington travels to Point Park University for a doubleheader on March 15 to take on the Pioneers at noon and 2:00 p.m.
