Baseball Falls to Lackawanna Community College

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - New Kensington baseball fell to Lackawanna Community College on Wednesday morning in their third day of spring training in South Carolina.

The men dropped a 10-0 decision to Lackawanna Community College in five innings of play to finish the morning's contest at 2-3 on the season. The second game of the day against Salem Community College was canceled due to a rainout.

It was day three for the Penn State New Kensington baseball team at the Ripken Experience facility in Myrtle Beach. New Kensington started the day against Lackawanna Community College, allowing five runs in the first inning, one in the second, and three in the third. The last run of the game was earned by Lackawanna in the bottom of the fifth on a line drive to left field, bringing the final score to 10-0.

Freshman Ethan Brunson (Michigan / Webberville) got the start for New Kensington throwing 3.1 innings and giving up nine runs on six hits. Brunson struck out two batters and walked five. Reise Matson (Kittanning, Pa. / Armstrong) took over the mound throwing 1.1 innings and allowed one run on one hit, walking two batters.

Three wild pitches in the bottom of the third extended Lackawanna's lead to finish on top 10-0.

The men will face off against Henry Ford College in their final game of the week on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
