Penn State New Kensington Rallies to Stunning Five-Set Victory Over Penn State Shenango
In an electrifying comeback, Penn State New Kensington (10-10, 4-5) overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Penn State Shenango (8-16, 7-2) in a thrilling five-set match. The final score was 3-2, with set scores of 20-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-9.

The Lions started slowly, dropping the first two sets as Shenango's offense capitalized on early errors. Sydney Ward led Shenango with 14 kills and a remarkable .344 hitting percentage, while Jill Dunleavy added 9 kills and 3 block solos. Penn State Shenango's early momentum made it seem as though they were on track for a sweep.
However, New Kensington found their rhythm in the third set. The comeback was sparked by standout performances from Jessica Staraniec, who recorded 16 kills and 14 digs, and Kayla Unger, who added 5 kills and 25 assists. The Lions' improved defense and precise serving played key roles in flipping the momentum.
In the decisive fifth set, New Kensington pulled ahead early and never looked back, closing out the match 15-9.
