Shenango Volleyball Takes Win from New Kensington

SHARON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington women's volleyball took on Penn State Shenango this evening. New Kensington came up short in all three sets, and Shenango got their first win of the season.

New Kensington started off the first set with much aggression and looked good against Shenango. By the end of the set, Shenango managed to break away and win with a good lead, 25-12. The second set started off similar, and New Kensington pushed farther ahead than earlier, but still fell. The set came to 25-18 in favor of Shenango. With the chance to win their first game, Shenango played until they won 25-11 in the last set.

Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) put down seven kills for the team. Contributing ten digs, Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) led the defense, and Kierra Rose (Uniontown, Pa./ Uniontown) had eight assists.

New Kensington will head over to Penn State Fayette on Sat., September 21 for a conference game which will begin at 2 p.m.
