Lions fall to Penn State Fayette on Road, 3-1

Uniontown, Pa. - The Penn State Women's Volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Penn State Fayette on Monday. New Kensington's record falls to 6-12 overall and 5-9 in the Penn State University Athletics Conference.

New Kensington started slow out of the gate, losing in the first by a score of 25-8. Fayette took care of set two as well, winning 25-15. In the third set, New Kensington's offense came alive, led by freshman outside hitter Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa.) who recorded five of PSNK's thirteen kills in the set. The Lions took the set 25-19, before falling in the fourth set 25-10. 

Freshman Brittany Kotvas (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a team-high ten kills and nine digs. Freshman Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa.) also racked up nine digs defensively. Sophomore Gina Batiz (Vandergrift, Pa.) propelled the offense by providing eleven assists. Junior Cora Rejniak (Gibsonia, Pa.) added three service aces.

Penn State New Kensington returns home for its final two games of the season. First up is Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, October 19. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
