Women's Volleyball Wins Two at Saturday's PSUAC Quad Match

Uniontown Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington Women's Volleyball team won two matches during a Penn State University Athletics Conference quad match hosted by Penn State Fayette on Saturday. In the first match of the day, the Lions beat Penn State Wilkes-Barre 3-2. They then went on to sweep Penn State Worthington Scranton 3-0. 

Against Wilkes-Barre, freshman outside hitter Brittany Kotvas (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had a standout performance with 15 kills, nine digs, and four aces.  Freshman Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa.) and sophomore Gina Batiz (Vandergrift, Pa.) helped out the offense with 14 assists a piece.

In the second match with Worthington Scranton, Kotvas and fellow freshman Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa.) each had six kills to lead the offense. Flick fueled the offense with ten assists. Kotvas and Kasey Klapheke (Leechburg, Pa.) each had a team-high seven digs. 

The Lions host a PSUAC Quad Match Sunday, October 8. They face Penn State Lehigh Valley at 2:00 p.m. followed by Penn State Hazleton at 4:00 p.m.
