Women's Volleyball Drops Two at PSUAC Quad Match

Media, Pa., - The Penn State New Kensington Women's Volleyball team lost two matches in straight sets agains Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Brandywine. The Lions fall to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the Penn State Universtiy Athletics Conference. 

In the first match of the day, New Kensington lost by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-22. Freshman outside hitter Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa.) led the team with seven kills, seven digs, and four aces. Sophomore Gina Batiz (Vandergrift, Pa.) and freshman Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa.) split time setting and contributed eleven and ten assists respectively.

Flick shined defensively against Brandywine in the second match. She led the team with ten digs and four blocks, while also recording seven assists. Batiz had a team-high 4 kills. Junior Cora Rejniak (Gibsonia, Pa.) added three service aces. 

Penn State New Kensington will travel to Penn State DuBois on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
