Women's Volleyball Takes Down PSU York; Falls to PSU Mont Alto

Mont Alto, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington Women's Volleyball team traveled to Penn State Mont Alto Saturday for a Penn State University Athletic Conference crossover. In the first match of the day, the Lions swept Penn State York, 25-11, 25-20, 25-17. New Kensington fell to Penn State Mont Alto, 19-25, 30-28, 14-25, 15-25 in the night cap. New Kensington's record moves to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in PSUAC play.

Against, Penn State York, freshman Brittany Kotvas led the offense with 10 kills. Sophomore Gina Batiz had five kills with no errors on eight attempts for a .625 hitting percentage. Batiz also fueled the offense with 14 assists. Freshman Kaylea Flick added six aces while Kotvas chipped in with five. 

Flick led the offense with a career-high 12 kills against Mont Alto. Batiz added 12 assists. Kotvas and fellow freshman outside hitter Janet Surma were both in double-digits for digs with 14 and 12, respectively.

The Lions are back in action Sunday as the compete in another PSUAC Quad Match at Penn State Brandywine. They face Penn State Schuylkill at 12:00 p.m. and Penn State Brandywine at 2:00 p.m.
