Women's Volleyball Drops PSUAC Match to Penn State Beaver

Penn State Women's Volleyball Team found themselves on the losing end of a sweep this afternoon against Penn State University Athletic Conference foe Penn State Beaver at the PSNK Athletic Center. The defeat gives New Kensington an 0-2 record in the conference and an 1-4 mark overall, while Beaver improves to 6-3 overall, 2-0 PSUAC.

Beaver came out strong from the start, winning the first set 25-10 while maintaining a .389 hitting percentage. They followed that up with a .350 hitting percentage to take set two by a score of 25-14. 

Penn State New Kensington found some rhythm and improved passing in the third set and began to show the team that they can be. Despite their efforts, the Lions fell short, losing 25-19. 

Freshman Brittany Kotvas led the way offensively with 7 kills. Sophomore Gina Batiz led all players with 8 digs and also contributed a team-high 6 assists. Jenna Barclay, Kaylea Flick, and Kasey Klapheke each chipped in with 7 digs a piece. 

For Penn State Beaver, Jenna Petrucci led the way with 10 kills to go with 7 digs, while Ryanne Kie had 23 assists.

Penn State New Kensington will travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny for another PSUAC match on Wed., Sept. 27.  The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
