Women's Volleyball Splits on Day One of the PSUCA/WPCC Challenge

The Penn State New Kensington Women's Volleyball team split its matches Friday evening at the PSUAC/WPCC Challenge on the campus of Penn State Beaver.

The Lions won their opening match of the season 3-0 against Westmoreland County Community College. Freshman Brittany Kotvas led the way with 7 kills followed by fellow freshman Kaylea Flick with 6 kills. Flick and sophomore Gina Batiz each provided 7 assists. Freshman Janet Surma and Flick led the defense with 5 digs a piece.

In the second match, New Kensington fell to Penn Highlands Community College 3-0. Kotvas again drove the offense with 6 kills and 4 aces. Flick chipped in 5 kills and 3 solo blocks. 

The Lions are back in action on day two of the PSUAC/WPCC Challenge on Saturday. The will face the Community College of Beaver County at 4:00 p.m.
