Women’s Basketball Starts off Season Against Central Penn

ENOLA, Pa. – For their first competition of the season, Penn State New Kensington women's basketball faced off with Central Penn College at East Pennsboro Highschool. The Lions took the loss, 69-40, putting them at 0-1 for the start of the season.

Junior Ryleigh Beck (Saegertown, Pa./ Maplewood) was the forefront for the Lions, leading with 11 points. Nine of Beck's points were three-pointers. Freshman Kierra Rose (Uniontown, Pa./ Uniontown Area) was another leading player, as she put in ten points and went five for six in free throws. Deshaya Chavis (Penn Hills, Pa./ Penn Hills) added to the freshmen who stepped up during the game, tallying up eight points to contribute to New Kensington's score.

The Lions had great three-point percentages over Central Penn. They were 21.7% more accurate with their three-pointers, and went 13 for 15 in free throws.

New Kensington's home opener will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, as they host Westminster College. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
