Penn State New Kensington battled hard in the second game of their PSUAC opening series against Penn State DuBois but ultimately fell short in a close 5-4 contest. Despite a late-inning rally, DuBois held on to secure the win and split the series.
Game 2: Late Rally Falls Short as DuBois Evens the Series
Penn State DuBois took an early lead, using aggressive baserunning and clutch hitting to build a 5-2 advantage by the fifth inning.
New Kensington attempted a late comeback in the seventh, with Olivia Waldrop and Antonia Velasquez each driving in runs to cut the deficit to one. However, DuBois' defense held firm, stranding the tying run on base and closing out the win.
Despite the loss, New Kensington saw strong performances from Kali Barnett, who scored three runs, and Linda Shepard, who contributed two RBIs. Brookelyn Kotch was solid in relief, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out one.
