Slancauskas, Willis Named John Fritz Award Winners

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Two spring student-athletes were honored by the Penn State University Athletic Conference with the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award earlier this week. Alyssa Slancauskas (Lower Burrell, Pa./Cheswick Christian) and Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) were selected as the recipients for each of their respective teams.

The John Fritz Sportsmanship Award is given to one student-athlete on each sport team that best displays good sportsmanship and demonstrates ethical, appropriate, polite and fair behavior while participating in athletic events and as a member of their team.  The honorees exemplify the Penn State University Values of integrity, responsibility, excellence, respect, discovery and community.

Slancauskas is a junior on the softball team seeking a degree in psyschology. She shows great dedication to the program and her teammates. 

Willis, a sophomore outfielder on the baseball team, was a constant positive force for the program. He also a member of the men's basketball team.
