Men's Soccer Trio Named USCAA All-Americans

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Three Penn State New Kensington men's soccer players have been named USCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-Americans as announced by the organization at its fall championships banquet. Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) was named to the second team, while teammates Carlos Colindres (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) and Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) received honorable mention.

Braun led the Lions with 29 points on the season and tied for the team-high in goals with twelve. Both figures ranked him eleventh in the USCAA. The sophomore also ranked tenth in the USCAA with three game-winners. Braun had a big day in the first round of the PSUAC tournament, his two goals and two assists propelled New Kensington to 7-1 victory against Penn State Scranton.

Colindres made an immediate impact on the New Kensington squad this season. The freshman tied with Braun for the team lead in goals and was second in points with 27. His point total landed the forward in fourteenth place in the USCAA. Colindres scored his first collegiate goal and then three more in a Sept. 11 games against Westmoreland County Community College.

Zakrzewski, a senior goalkeeper, had a standout final campaign. His five shutouts were good for third in the USCAA and his 87 saves ranked him tenth in the nation. Zakrzewski was named the PSUAC Goalie of the Week on Oct. 9 after earning two shutouts.

The trio joins Pascal Bikanura, a 2017 honorable mention selection, and Andrew Perenic, a 2018 second team member, as the only Penn State New Kensington men's soccer student-athletes to be named all-Americans by the USCAA.
