
Men's Soccer Falls to Carlow in Season Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State New Kensington men's soccer fell in its season opener to Carlow University Saturday afternoon, 5-1.
The game remained scoreless through the first half before Carlow's Matt Cannon scored in the 55th minute. The Celtics scored three more times to put them up 4-0 with 15 minutes remaining in the game.
In the 77th minute, sophomore Andrew Perenic (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Derek McCloud (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) for the Nittany Lions first goal of the season. Carlow would go on to score once more to bring the final score to 5-1.
Freshman goalkeeper Chris Zolet (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made four saves in his collegiate debut.
New Kensington is back in action next Saturday, Sept. 8 as it travels to University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
