Men's Soccer Falls to Penn State Hazleton

Hazelton, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington Men's Soccer team fell to Penn State Hazleton, 2-1, Sunday afternoon in Penn State University Athletic Conference play. New Kensington's lone goal was scored by sophomore Gabe Gaertner (Allison Park, Pa.).

Penn State Hazleton opened up the scoring in the 25th minute when Ben Pasukinis finished a pass from Jason Klusewitz. The two teams battled for 50 more minutes with neither team finding the goal. 

In the 77th minute, a long throw-in from Mitchell Kuczynski (Natrona Heights, Pa.) found the head of Gaertner. Gaertner connected to beat the goal and tie the match up 1-1. However, less than three minutes later Moussa Diouf scored the game-winner for Hazleton from a Pasukinis assist. 

Sohomore goalkeeper Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa.) made 9 saves in goal for New Kensington. 

The loss drops the Lions' record to 3-2-1 and 2-2-1 in conference play while Hazleton improves to 4-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the PSUAC. 

Penn State New Kensington will host Penn State Greater Allegheny in another PSUAC game on Thursday, September 28, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
