Hamilton Hat-trick lifts Men's Soccer over WCCC

Junior Dylan Hamilton scored a hat-trick today to lead the Penn State New Kensington Men's Soccer team to a 5-2 victory over non-conference opponent Westmoreland County Community College Thursday afternoon. The win brings the Lions to a 1-0-1 record for the season.

New Kensington was on the board early in the first half after a shot by Andrew Perenic rebounded off WCCC's goalkeeper and found the foot of Hamilton for his first goal of the game. In the 28th minute, Pascal Bikanura drove in a penalty kick, marking his third goal of the season. New Kensington would go up 3-0 ten minutes later when a pass from Bikanura created a one-on-one opportunity between Hamilton and the goalkeeper.

Westmoreland answered back in with two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half, drawing within one of the Lions. That would be the last from the Wolfpack as New Kensington outshot Westmoreland 18-5 in the second half. Goals by Hamilton and sophomore Paul Kozuch in the 68th and 80th minutes sealed the game for the host Lions.

Josh Zakrzewski finished with 7 saves in goal for New Kensington.

The Lions back in action on Saturday, September 16 when they will host conference opponent Penn State Worthington Scranton. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
