Golf Travels to USCAA National Championship

State College, Pa. - Penn State New Kensington's Dan Smith shot 77 on Tuesday in the final round of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) championships to finish eighth with a two-round total of 156 at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. The sophomore engineering major opened with a 79 on Monday and his total earned him PSUAC All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year.

Evan Fahs of Penn State Lehigh Valley was medalist with 70-76-146. Penn State DuBois took the team title with a 315-320-635. In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA)national tournament, which ran concurrent with the PSUAC tournament at the Blue Course, Smith finished 25th in the 100-player field. Colton Krumper of St. St. Mary's of the Woods College in Chicago, won the national individual title with a 72-73-145. SUNY-Delhi was the team champion with 309-295-604.

Smith was named the USCAA National Student-Athlete of the Year for his academic and golf acumen. He also earned a berth on the USCAA Academic All-America team.
