Penn State New Kensington sophomore Dan Smith (Central Catholic) shot 79 Tuesday to earn runner-up honors at the BC3 Invitational at Lake Arthur Country Club in Butler, Pa. In the final regular season tournament, the New Kensington Lions finished with a 364 total, behind Westmoreland County Community College, 342, and host Butler County Community College, 361. Vinnie Ferragamo of WCCC was medalist with a 77.
New Kensington's post-season begins 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 for the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) conference championship and the concurrent United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national championship at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. A year ago, Smith finished sixth in the conference tournament and 13th in the national competition.
