Men's Basketball Falls Short against Penn State DuBois

DuBOIS, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team fell to PSUAC opponent Penn State DuBois Saturday. Keith Corbett (Sillver Spring, Md./Methodist) recorded his fifth double-double of the season in the 63-59 loss. New Kensington drops to 4-14 and 2-11 in the PSUAC, while DuBois improves to 10-12 and 7-6 PSUAC.

New Kensington started the game out strong, fighting its way to a 13-7 lead highlighted by a pair of Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) triples. However, DuBois answered back with a 16-0 run to gain the lead, 23-13. Four points from senior Brandon Burchette (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) helped to cut the DuBois halftime lead to 31-25 and keep New Kensington in the game.

New Kensington was able to outscore DuBois in the second half and shot almost 47 percent from the field compared to DuBois's 33 percent, but it was not enough to overcome the hosts. Corbett tallied 14 of his 16 points in the second half.

Corbett ended the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Dorian Broadwater (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) registered 15 points and junior Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) added ten points and seven boards. Willis helped the New Kensington offense with a game-high eight assists, while also grabbing seven rebounds and adding eight points.

New Kensington now enters its final week of the season. Up first for the Lions is Penn State Beaver, who they will face at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
